Northern Streets play Delamere Street Dog in Winsford

CHESHIRE-based indie rock band Northern Streets returned its roots for a sold-out gig at the new Delamere Street Dog in Winsford.

Northern Streets played the pub on Delamere Street on August 12.

Two of the band’s members, drummer Dylan Oakes and singer Harry Lamb, both 18, are from Winsford, while Dylan Rice, 18 is from Middlewich and lead guitarist James Harman, 17, is from Holmes Chapel.

The four-piece all met at Sir John Deane’s College in Northwich.

Dylan Rice said: “The gig sold out and that’s something that we’re proud of.

“It was a really good turn out and a lot of our friends and family came down too.

“It’s a great feeling to play live anywhere, no matter whether it’s close to or far away from home – especially post covid because that was definitely something that stunted us all musically.

“Playing live music is the best form of practice that you can do.”

Knutsford Guardian:

The band, which describes itself as having an ‘alt-rock vibe’ played a mixture of covers and new original songs at the gig.

They are currently in the process of recording the new tracks for their EP which is due to be released in the next few months.

And Dylan has high praise for the recently-opened Winsford pub: “I think it’s the best music venue locally – it has a purpose built live music room which makes the atmosphere really great.”

The pub is hosting a number of gigs over the coming weeks to showcase new artists and young talent.

Lennon Daniels, also from Winsford, was the band’s support act.

Dylan said: “He was a really superb support act.

“He was playing acoustic stuff and everyone was singing along. He’s a local lad too so a lot of his friends and family also came.”

The band recently played another hometown gig at The Kings Lock in Middlewich on July 27.

And following a string of local gigs, the band is looking to head further afield: “Currently we hope to keep playing live music and get a few fans going.

“Luckily our gigs are starting to branch out further to places like Warrington and we seem to be gaining some traction which is really good.

“The main plan for the future is to keep playing live music because that’s what we love to do.”
